The Advanced Certificate in Science Programme (ACS) is designed to encourage those without the basic entry qualifications to pursue higher studies in Bachelor of Degree, Bachelor of Engineering Technology (BIT) and Bachelor of Industrial Studies (BIS) programmes to achieve such qualifications.
Courses are delivered according to the Level 2 of the Sri Lanka Qualification Framework (SLQF) (equivalent to GCE (Advanced Level).
The credit content of courses is thirty (30) per each level, which will include six (6) courses, each of five (5) credit weightage totaling up to ten (10) credit of courses each for a discipline. The main disciplines are Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics. The courses will be offered by the Faculty of Natural Sciences.
Those who have sat GCE (A/L) in the Science stream, may complete the Advanced Certificate in Science Programme in one year if they pass the selection test to exempt Level 2 -part 1. They will have to do ONLY Level 2 -Part 2 (30 credits)
Those who have NOT sat for GCE (A/L) in the Science stream or do not PASS the Exemption test, they will have to complete Level 2 -part 1 (30 credits) and Level 2 -part 2 (30 credits) in two years to obtain the Advanced Certificate in Science

Eligibility requirements for degree programmes offered by Faculty of Natural Sciences
Bachelor of Science (Botany, Chemistry, Pure Maths, Applied Maths, Computer Science, Physics or Zoology)
A person who wants to follow the Bachelor of Science Degree shall be required to have;
E.g. 1) If a student pass Biology in GCE (A/L) and passed chemistry and physics in ACS programme, the student can combine these results to admit for BSc degree programme.
E.g. 2) If a student pass Agricultural Science in GCE (A/L) and passed chemistry and biology in ACS programme, the student can combine these results to admit for BSc degree programme.
Eligibility requirements for degree programmes offered by Faculty of Engineering Technology
Bachelor of Science Honours in Engineering
You need to obtain the Advanced Certificate in Science Certificate or three passes in GCE (A/L) in one sitting (chemistry, physics, Combined mathematics);
Bachelor of Industrial Studies Honours
Bachelor of Software Engineering
Other undergraduate degrees available to ACS students after completing the ACS programme

The tuition fee can be paid in installments. The first installment should be paid at the time of registration with the registration fee and the facility fee.
