Master of Science Degree in Medical Entomology and Applied Parasitology is designed for biologists, veterinarians and medical personnel who wish to develop their knowledge and skills in a comprehensive range of aspects covering Medical Entomology and Parasitology. This programme consists of a broad range of modules that cater to persons currently engaged or seeking careers in health-related public and private sectors, research, academia and further postgraduate study.
The programme is designed to meet the growing need to develop knowledge and skills in vector-borne disease control and vector control. These areas of study are important since life-threatening vector-borne diseases like Dengue, Malaria and JE, still continue to be a major public health concern throughout the world despite all efforts to control their transmission.

All courses offered in Year 1 are compulsory. Three of the specialized optional courses offered in year 2 can be chosen depending on the need and interest. Further, second-year courses have certain prerequisites.

The MSc in Medical Entomology and Applied Parasitology involves courses related to Medical Entomology,
Parasitology, Epidemiology, Immunology, Molecular Biology, Vector Population Management, Clinical Aspects of Diseases, Disease Management related to vector-borne diseases, Public Health Issues and Polices with practical experiences for skills development related to and a compulsory research project. |
• Bachelor’s Degree in Science (Biological Sciences) from a recognized university, or
• Bachelor’s Degree in Veterinary Science from a recognized university, or
• Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degree from a recognized university, or
• An equivalent or higher professional qualification acceptable to the OUSL Senate.
