This course is designed for students studying Tamil as a Second Language and also for those employed and working in government institution who wish to acquire additional Language proficiency in Tamil.

1. Age Limit: Above 18 years.
2. i) Obtained a Credit pass or above in Tamil as a Second Language at G.C.E (O/L) in the old syllabus/New syllabus, or
ii) Successfully completed the Basic course in Tamil conducted by The Open University of Sri Lanka, or
iii) Successfully completed the Certificate Course Tamil as a Second Language conducted by The Open University of Sri Lanka, or
iv) Obtained Credit passes in the language proficiency tests (Stage 1/ Stage II/ Stage III) conducted by the Ministry of National Languages and Social Integration, or
v) An equivalent or higher educational and professional qualification acceptable to the Senate.
* Applicants who do not possess the above qualifications 2. i) – v) should sit for the grading test conducted by the Open University of Sri Lanka, and those who score less than 40% marks will be selected to follow the cerificate course Tamil as a Second Language.
