A two-year study Programme leading to the award of Master of Science in Industrial Engineering is to be offered soon after the approval is obtained from the University Grants commission. The aim of the Study Programme is to provide an opportunity, for the graduates who are working in the industry as Industrial Engineers and Managers or the graduates willing to enter into the decision making level, to obtain a higher qualification in the field of Industrial Engineering. This provides an educational opportunity composed with up-to-date academic content delivered within a well-planned curriculum framework and course syllabuses related to Industrial Engineers.
Master of Energy Management
The postgraduate Study Programmes conducted by the department are being revised according to SLQF and to meet the current needs. A one- year study programme leading to the award of Master of Energy Management is to be offered in January 2020. This Programme aims to impart necessary specific theoretical knowledge and skills in the area of energy management to the graduates of engineering who aspire to become qualified energy managers or energy auditors.
Master of Science in Structural Engineering
The Master of Science in Structural Engineering program offers an innovative approach to tackling complex engineering challenges. It trains civil engineers to leverage their technical knowledge in engineering, design, and implementation to create sustainable and economical environments. The curriculum combines established areas like Structural, Soil, and Materials Engineering, and emphasizes industry collaboration to address contemporary needs. Postgraduate Diploma in Special Needs Education
The Department of Special Needs Education offers a 15-month Postgraduate Diploma in Special Needs Education for graduate teachers. Recognized by the Ministry of Education, the program aims to enhance knowledge of Inclusive Education, familiarize participants with relevant theories, and develop positive attitudes and practical skills in special needs education. It addresses current issues faced by individuals in special circumstances and emphasizes effective interaction with parents. The program comprehensively covers all aspects of special needs education, aiming to develop teachers’ professional skills and knowledge.
Master of Education in Special Needs Education Degree Programme
The Master of Education in Special Needs Education is a 66-credit, two-year distance-learning program at OUSL, focusing on self-study without printed texts.
Post Graduate Diploma in Education
The Post Graduate Diploma in Education is a 36-credit program at the Open University of Sri Lanka, aimed at providing professional training for graduate teachers and education professionals. It includes 12 courses: 8 compulsory courses, 2 electives out of 6 options, and practical teaching experience. Suitable for graduates in the education field, it enhances teaching skills and professional development.
Master of Teacher Education (MTE)
The MTE program aims to enhance professional skills among teacher educators in areas such as teaching strategies, educational technology, curriculum design, leadership, and research. Tailored for educators in the Ministry of Education, university faculties, and the National Institute of Education, the program includes six courses and a portfolio project over two semesters, with resources in Sinhala, Tamil, and English. It emphasizes authentic learning scenarios without final written exams, utilizing readings and multimedia as primary learning tools.
Master of Education
This 30-credit, one-year program is designed to support professionals in education by offering advanced studies and specialized knowledge. It promotes research in education and consists of three compulsory courses and one optional course.
