Short Course in Professional Computer Applications (Colombo Regional Centre)

This course is designed to provide in-depth knowledge for an office worker who needs competency in the working environment of a general office. The knowledge of Microsoft Office and web-based application development and management is extensively covered in the curriculum.

Objectives of this course are as follows,

Familiarize with the anatomy of computers.
Work with operating systems and commonly used applications.
Learn to use the internet.
Work with MS office applications.
Develop and manage web-based applications.

Computer Applications
Computer Fundamentals, Working Model of Computer, Hardware Basics (Components of Computer), How to Assemble a PC, File Organization in Computer Systems, MSDOS Operating System, Installation of Software and Drivers, Computer Networks, The Internet & Internet Applications, Internet connectivity to Home & Office, World Wide Web, E-mail System & E-mail Clients, Computer Viruses & Prevention Techniques, Basic Troubleshooting on Computers.

General Office
Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Power point, Microsoft Access

Web applications
Web designing and web development using HTML, CSS, Java Script, PHP and MySQL Databases, Introduction to Computer Network, Introduction to Dreamweaver, Internet Forum Applications, Working with Linux Environment, Content Management Systems, Project in Web Applications.

Highly recognized certificate will be offered by the Open University of Sri Lanka to the participants who successfully complete the course.
