Master of Education

This is a 30-credit study programme. A candidate should acquire the 30 credits within a minimum of one year.

Objectives:

To expand the opportunities for higher studies in Education for those who are already serving in the field
To enable personnel already serving in higher educational institutions to obtain specialized knowledge in fields relevant to their professions by offering a variety of new subjects
To promote research in areas relevant to the development of Education

The programme consists of course work only. The course work comprises 3 compulsory courses and one optional course. This programme will be conducted in Colombo (Sinhala, Tamil & English), Kandy (Sinhala medium only) and Jaffna (Tamil medium only) regional centers.

Admission

The minimum entry requirements for the Master of Education Degree Programme are as follows:

A pass in the Degree of Bachelor of Education (B.Ed)

Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) or Postgraduate Diploma in Special Needs in Education (PGDSNE) from The Open University of Sri Lanka or any other recognized university,

an equivalent or higher qualification acceptable to the Senate of the OUSL
