Bachelor of Science Honours in Zoology

Zoology is a fascinating branch of biology devoted to the study of animal life. If you are curious about animals and their behaviour, Zoology may be an ideal field in which to specialise.

Students who have studied Zoology as a major subject during their first two years (Levels 3 and 4) are eligible to be considered for admission to the Zoology Honours degree programme at the end of their second year (Level 4).

Our Bachelor of Science Honours in Zoology offers a comprehensive range of courses across the discipline. Building on foundational knowledge in Animal Life and Diversity, Biogeography, Animal Form and Function, Ecology, Animal Development, and Animal Behaviour, the programme introduces students to advanced and specialised areas. These include Wildlife and Conservation Biology, Fish Biology, Ornithology, Parasitology, Entomology, Mammalian Biology, Immunology, Molecular Biology, and Environmental Toxicology, with particular emphasis on practical applications. The Advanced Techniques in Zoology course introduces students to both established and emerging tools and methods. Research Methodology and the Research Project in Zoology further develop the skills needed to design and conduct scientific research.

This Degree programme is progressionally linked with the BSc and MSc Degrees in the University of Essex, UK
