Badulla Regional Centre
Badulla Regional Centre is the 8th Regional Centre of the Open University of Sri Lanka, officially opened on July 4th, 2014. It is located in Badulla City, Uva Province. The Centre currently has 1572 students for Regular Programmes and over 600 students annually registering for Short Courses. Programme types include Short Courses such as Certificate in Completion of Computer Literacy, Short Course in Listening and Speech in English, Short Course in Human Resource Management, and Short Course in Graphic Designing. Advanced Certificate programmes include the Advanced Certificate in Social Sciences (ACSS), Advanced Certificate in Science (ACS), Advanced Certificate in Human Resource Management (ACHRM), Advanced Certificate in Entrepreneurship and Small Business Management (ESBM), Advanced Certificate in English for Business & Professional Communication (ACEPC), and Certificate in English for General Communication (CEGC). Diploma programmes include the Diploma in English Language and Literature. Degree programmes include Bachelor of Education Honours in Primary Education, Bachelor of Software Engineering Honours, Bachelor of Science Honours in Nursing, Bachelor of Pharmacy Honours, Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Science Honours, Bachelor of Science Honours in Psychology, Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Tamil and Tamil Language Teaching, Bachelor of Arts in Social Sciences, Bachelor of Arts in Youth and Community Development, Bachelor of Laws Honours, Bachelor of Science in Information Technology, Bachelor of Management Studies Honours [BMS (Hons)], Bachelor of Management Studies Honours in Accounting and Finance, Bachelor of Management Studies Honours in Marketing Management, and Bachelor of Management Studies Honours in Human Resource Management. Postgraduate programmes include the Post Graduate Diploma in Education (PGDE). Fields of study include the Faculty of Education, Faculty of Engineering Technology, Faculty of Health Sciences, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Faculty of Natural Sciences, and Faculty of Management Studies.
Badulla Regional Centre is equipped with Lecture Halls, Examination Halls, and Computer Laboratories with internet connectivity. Library facilities are available, with the Regional Library open for the students to study and for reference. Other learning-support facilities include a Smart Classroom. The Centre also provides free Wi-Fi and multimedia resources for Dayschools, and every student is provided with course materials for self-learning. Badulla is a zero-plastic zone.
