Anuradhapura Regional Centre

The Open University of Sri Lanka – Anuradhapura Regional Centre (ARC) is a leading higher education hub in the North Central Province, proudly serving the academic aspirations of learners for over three decades. Established in 1988 in the historic city of Anuradhapura, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Centre relocated in 2008 to its current modern premises, equipped with advanced facilities to support the growing demand for Open and Distance Learning (ODL).

ARC’s mission is to provide equitable access to quality higher education through flexible ODL methodologies, ensuring that learners of all ages and backgrounds can pursue their academic and professional goals. The Centre currently serves more than 2,500 active learners enrolled in Certificate, Diploma, Undergraduate, and Postgraduate programmes across diverse disciplines including Humanities, Education, Engineering, Management, Science, Health Sciences, and Language Studies.

The Centre features modern lecture halls, an auditorium, computer and science laboratories, examination halls, study areas, and a well-resourced library with digital access. Free Wi-Fi, multimedia learning tools, and self-learning materials further enhance student experience. Committed to sustainability, the Centre maintains a zero-plastic policy in alignment with the university’s green environment initiatives.

ARC also organizes academic seminars, workshops, exhibitions, and community development projects, contributing to the intellectual and social advancement of the region.
