This course is designed for students studying Sinhala as a Second Language and also for those employed and working in government institution who wish to acquire additional Language proficiency in Sinhala.

1. Age Limit: Above 18 years.
2. i) Obtained a Credit pass or above in Sinhala as a Second Language at G.C.E (O/L) in the old syllabus/New syllabus, or
ii) Successfully completed the Basic course in Sinhala conducted by The Open University of Sri Lanka, or
iii) Successfully completed the Certificate in Sinhala as a Second Language conducted by The Open University of Sri Lanka, or
iv) Obtained Credit passes in the Language Proficiency Tests (Stage I, Stage II, Stage III) conducted by the Ministry of National Languages and Social Integration, or
v) An equivalent or higher educational and professional qualifications acceptable to the Senate.
* Applicants who do not possess the above qualifications 2. i) – v) should sit for the grading test conducted by the Open University of Sri Lanka, and those who score less than 40% marks will be selected to follow the Cerificate Course in Sinhala as a Second Language.
