Ms. S. M. Varuni Deepashika Senanayake is a lecturer (on-contract) in the Department of English Language Teaching at the Open University of Sri Lanka. She holds a BA (Hons) in Teaching English as a Second Language from the University of Kelaniya and a Diploma in Commercial Arbitration from the Institute for the Development of Commercial Law and Practice (ICLP). Being an Attorney-at-Law of the Supreme Court of Sri Lanka, a Commissioner for Oaths and a Notary Public with a strong academic foundation in TESL, she brings an interdisciplinary perspective that bridges English language education and law.

Her teaching practice emphasizes TESL methodology, communicative language teaching, curriculum design, learner – centered pedagogy, and the integration of multimedia in language instruction. With professional experience in Commercial, Company, Intellectual Property, Admiralty, Family, and Insurance Law as a legal counsel, she also explores the intersection of language, law, and human rights through her ongoing postgraduate studies in Human Rights and Democratization at the University of Colombo. With her strong multidisciplinary background, Ms. Senanayake is committed to contribute the continuous development of English language teaching in Sri Lanka through innovative and evidence-based practices.
