Mr. M.D.B.P. Weerasinghe began his teaching career at Loyola College, Bopitiya, before joining T/TN/Morawewa South Sinhala Vidyalaya (Trincomalee North) as a government teacher. He later served as a Temporary Lecturer in the Department of Secondary and Tertiary Education, Faculty of Education, at the Open University of Sri Lanka (OUSL), and was subsequently appointed as a Probationary Lecturer in the same faculty. His research interests include Media Education, Aesthetic Education, and Inclusive Education.
