The IMPACTO robotics game competition organized by the Mechatronics Society – Department of Mechanical Engineering, The Open University of Sri Lanka. IMPACTO robotics challenge consists of mainly two categories, university category and school category. The university category focused on students from higher education institutions, and the school category focused on government and private schools. University category challenge involves developing an autonomous robot. The AUTONOMOUS Robot Challenge is more than just a contest; it’s a chance to apply participants classroom knowledge in a real-world scenario. Participants will be challenged to design, build, and program a robot capable of autonomous navigation robot. This hands-on experience will not only hone participants technical skills but also foster critical problem-solving abilities and teamwork – qualities that are highly sought after in the professional world. As participants embark on this journey, participants will have the opportunity to collaborate with like-minded peers, exchanging ideas and strategies that push the boundaries of what’s possible. Participants robot’s ascent up the vertical frontier will be a testament to your dedication and innovation, showcasing their ability to overcome challenges and engineer practical solutions. The skills they develop and the insights they gain from the University Challenge are not confined to the competition itself. They’ll stay with participants as they navigate there academic and professional endeavors, adding a unique feather to your cap and opening doors to exciting opportunities in robotics, programming and beyond. The school category challenge involves the development of a robot that follows lines with the capability of counting objects by color. In the FOLLOWBOT Challenge, participants will get the chance to design, build, and program your very own line-following robot. They will step into the shoes of an engineer and a programmer as they work to make their robot understand and interpret the cues from the line on the ground. Participants will delve into the world of sensors, algorithms, and coding to create a robot that can make decisions in real-time, adjusting its speed and direction to stay on track. But that’s not all! The Line-Following Robot Challenge isn’t just about technical prowess. It’s about teamwork, creativity, and innovation. Participants will have the opportunity to collaborate with their peers, brainstorm ideas, and come up with unique solutions to the challenges they will encounter. Whether they are a budding engineer, a future programmer, or simply curious about how things work, this challenge offers something for everyone. Throughout this challenge, participants will learn about robotics, problem-solving, and critical thinking. They will experience the joy of seeing their robot come to life and tackle the twists and turns of the track. They also gain insights into how technology can be harnessed to solve real-world problems.
Aim
The aim of the “OUSL IMPACTO” organized by students of the Open University of Sri Lanka (OUSL), is to inspire, engage, and empower participants to explore the fascinating world of robotics, while fostering collaboration, creativity, and technical expertise. By providing a platform for students to showcase their robotic creations, the competition aims to cultivate a culture of innovation and excellence within the realm of robotics and technology.
