Instruction for Authors and Review Process

INSTRUCTIONS FOR AUTHORS

 

Before submitting a manuscript to SLJMS, the author(s) is advised to read and follow the guidelines below.

  1. Title page

The names and contact details of all contributing authors should be included in a separate Microsoft Word file in which the following details must be furnished.

  • – Author(s) contact numbers and email addresses (institutional preferred).
  • – In case of more than one author(s), the corresponding author and the email address of the corresponding author must be clearly identified.
  • – Author (s) name: The names should be included as they wish to appear on the journal article.
  • – Author affiliation: The affiliation is where the author(s) was attached when the research for the paper was conducted.

Only authors who have made a significant contribution to the paper must be listed in the above document

  1. Length of Paper

Articles should be of 5,000 to 7,500 words, case reviews should be 2,000 to 4,000 words and book reviews should be of 1,000 to 1,500 words.

  1. Abstract

Please provide an abstract of 150 to 250 words. A maximum of Five (5) Keywords should be indicated below the abstract. The abstract should include, in brief, the objectives of the research (i.e. the gap being addressed), scope of the research, methods adopted, major findings, and conclusions.

  1. Text Formatting

Use A4 size. Text should be left-justified. Use 12-point font size. Use preferably Times and New Romans font. Use 1.5 line spacing. Page numbers should be centered on the bottom margin. All margins should be one inch. Please refer the published papers in the SLJMS to understand the formatting requirement.

Headings and Sections – Headings should be clearly delineated. Authors should show each heading’s level of importance as follows:

Major Head – Separate line centered over text; bold, all caps.

First Subhead– Separate line centered over text; bold, upper/lower case.

Second Subhead– Separate line, flush left; bold, upper/lower case.

Third Subhead– On same line as beginning of text, flush left, bold, upper/lower case, followed by a colon)

Footnotes are not allowed. SLJMS only accepts Endnotes if absolutely necessary. Endnotes should be identified in the text by consecutive numbers and explanatory note should be placed at the end of the article with the corresponding number.

  1. Table

Tables should be numbered consecutively using Arabic numbering (Table 1, Table 2, etc.) and must have corresponding references in the main text. Tables should also have appropriate and concise headings. The table numbers and titles should be placed on top of the tables. Table captions should be centered above. Avoid placing tables before their first mention in the text. Any tables not based on the authors’ original data should have source notes with corresponding references appearing in the reference list.

  1. Figures

All figures as in the case of tables, should be numbered consecutively as ‘Figures’ (Figure 1, Figure 2, etc.) with corresponding references in the main text. Figures should also have appropriate and concise headings. The figure numbers and titles should be placed below the figures. Avoid placing figures before their first mention in the text.  Any figures not based on the authors’ original data should have source notes with corresponding references appearing in the reference list

  1. Referencing Style

SLJMS adheres to the APA (version 7) reference style. Please review the guidelines on APA to ensure your manuscript conforms to this reference style for both in-text citations and reference list (refer https://apastyle.apa.org/style-grammar-guidelines/references/examples).

  1. Submission of Manuscript

Submission Preparation Checklist

  • – The submission has not been previously published, in part or in whole, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • – All third-party-owned materials used have been identified with appropriate credit lines, and permission has been obtained from the copyright holder for all formats of the journal. Authors acknowledge their responsibility to gain all permissions prior to submission.
  • – All authors qualify as authors, and have given permission to be listed on the submitted paper.
  • – Tables are all cited in the main text and are included within the text document.
  • – The corresponding author is submitting an ORCID identifier in their author data and co-authors have been recommended to also provide an ORCID.
  • – The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines. Every effort has been made to ensure that the submission is ready for peer review according to the journal’s review policy. If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the submitted files (including file properties) have been anonymised.
