The Department of Psychology and Counselling, The Open University of Sri Lanka, sincerely extends its appreciation to all who contributed to the successful organization of the inaugural Mental Health Camp held on 10th October 2025 in commemoration of World Mental Health Day.
We are deeply grateful to our Chief Guest, Senior Prof. P. M. C. Thilakarathne, Vice Chancellor of The Open University of Sri Lanka; the Guest of Honour, Prof. B. Sunil S. De Silva, Dean, Faculty of Health Sciences; and the Head of the Department of Psychology and Counselling, Dr. Ransirini De Silva, for their invaluable presence and guidance. Our sincere thanks are also extended to the academic and non-academic staff, students, facilitators, and members of the organizing committee for their dedication and support.
The programme included structured psychological screening assessments, namely a Personality Test, Stress Assessment, and Depression and Anxiety Assessment, which promoted self-awareness and understanding of mental well-being. In addition, creative and interactive components such as an Art Corner, an Art Therapy session, and recreational activities were conducted to encourage emotional expression, relaxation, and positive social engagement.
This initiative represents an important step toward fostering a compassionate and supportive culture surrounding mental health within the university community.
