The Entrepreneurship Development and Consultancy Unit (EDCU) of the Faculty of Management Studies successfully organized a Discussion Forum titled “Building a Resilient Future: Lessons and Challenges in Social Entrepreneurship” on 12th September 2025 at CET-Me, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM.
The session was moderated by Prof. Nalin Abeysekara, Professor in Management Studies, Faculty of Management Studies. The forum brought together diverse perspectives from academia and practice, featuring contributions from Dr. Gerasimos Balis, Senior Lecturer at the Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, University of Bristol, along with social entrepreneurs Mr. Hasanka Padukka and Ms. Sarah Hettiarachchi.
The discussion provided valuable insights into the evolving role of social entrepreneurship in addressing societal challenges, while also highlighting the skills and resilience required to navigate this dynamic field. Participants engaged in a thought-provoking dialogue on how innovative approaches can create sustainable impact in communities, with a focus on both local and global contexts.
This forum formed part of EDCU’s ongoing commitment to fostering entrepreneurial knowledge, critical thinking, and collaborative learning among students, academics, and industry professionals.
