The Digitally Empowered Medical Healthcare Prevention and Wellness Camp was successfully held on 11th May 2026 from 9:30 AM onwards at the Faculty of Health Sciences premises of The Open University of Sri Lanka. The initiative was organized by Health Web Society, Faculty of Health Science, in collaboration with Public Information Division, OUSL, whose collective support and coordination contributed greatly to the success of the event.
The medical camp was conducted with the objective of promoting preventive healthcare, early detection, wellness awareness, and digital health empowerment within the community. The initiative brought together healthcare professionals, medical partners, and members of the public in an engaging and impactful healthcare outreach program.
Kings Hospital in Colombo ,National Eye Hospital and Colombo Eye Surgeron joined the initiative as healthcare partners, providing professional screening and
consultation services. The camp offered a range of health screening services including BMI measurements, blood sugar testing, blood pressure monitoring, weight assessments, and eye screening services for participants.
A key highlight of the initiative was the integration of digital healthcare through the Medipille platform, which enabled participants to digitally store and access their health records securely. Participants were also introduced to the importance of maintaining digital health profiles for future healthcare accessibility and continuity.
The event further featured a prevention and wellness awareness session conducted with the support of U.S.-based healthcare expertise, Dr Deshan Nanayakkara focusing on the importance of preventive healthcare, lifestyle management, early identification of non-communicable diseases, and community wellness practices.
Throughout the program, participants received one-to-one consultations and guidance from healthcare professionals, particularly for individuals whose screening results indicated deviations from standard health parameters. The initiative created an interactive platform for health education, awareness, and personalized guidance while strengthening the importance of community-centered and technology-driven healthcare solutions.
The successful completion of the medical camp reflects the strong collaboration between academic institutions, healthcare providers, and digital health innovators in advancing accessible and preventive healthcare initiatives for the wider community.
