The Department of Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering Technology, is pleased to announce that the Bachelor of Science Honours in Engineering – Mechanical Engineering specialisation have been granted Full Recognition by the Institution of Engineers, Sri Lanka (IESL).![]()
This achievement confirms that the programme satisfies the recognition requirements of the Institution of Engineers, Sri Lanka (IESL) for engineering education in Sri Lanka. It also indicates that graduates of the programme meet the academic qualifications required to progress toward Associate Membership and ultimately Chartered Engineer status within IESL. Within the IESL quality assurance framework, programme recognition acts as the formal step preceding accreditation. As a signatory to the Washington Accord, IESL utilizes its accreditation process to demonstrate the international substantial equivalence of accredited four-year engineering degree programmes.
The Faculty expresses its sincere appreciation to its staff, students, alumni, and industry partners for their continued commitment and contributions. Their efforts in developing outcomes-based curricula, enhancing laboratory facilities, strengthening learner support, and promoting continuous improvement were instrumental in achieving this milestone.
