Capacity Building Workshop on Strengthening Quality Assurance Culture and Strategic Practices in the Faculty of Natural Sciences

The Faculty of Natural Sciences, The Open University of Sri Lanka, conducted a one-day outbound workshop titled “Strengthening Quality Assurance Culture and Strategic Practices in the Faculty of Natural Sciences through an Outbound Capacity-Building Programme” on 29 May 2026 at Waters Edge, Battaramulla. The programme brought together 27 academic staff members and five resource persons : Prof. Meena Senthilnanthanan (UGC-QAC Chairman), Prof. Gominda Ponnamperuma (QA Consultant, UGC-QAC), Dr. T. Sivakumar (QA Director, FoE – UoM), Dr. Jako Olivier (Higher Education Advisor, CoL, Canada) and Dr. H.M.C.J. Herath (Director, IQAU – OUSL) – to enhance quality assurance knowledge and practices within the Faculty.

The programme focused on strengthening quality assurance practices and fostering a sustainable quality culture within the faculty. A key outcome of the workshop was the development of a draft five-year Quality Assurance Roadmap (2026–2030) to guide strategic quality enhancement initiatives within the Faculty of Natural Sciences.
