I am B. Sunil S. De Silva, former Head of the Department of Health Sciences and the Medical Laboratory Sciences. Currently attached to the Department of Nursing as a Senior Lecturer in Nursing (Grade 1) at the Open University of Sri Lanka. Further, I am currently on study leave for reading a Ph.D. in Nursing, University of New Mexico, USA.
I have obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from the Open University of Sri Lanka [a program with academic assistance from Athabasca University, Canada] with a Second Class [Upper Division] Honors. I completed my Master of Nursing by Research at Australian Catholic University in Melbourne, Australia in 2009. It was two years of full-time research study on cancer pain management in Sri Lanka. I have also had thirteen-year academic experiences as a Lecturer and Senior Lecturer in Nursing and ten-year experiences as a Registered Staff Nurse after completing three – year General Nursing Training program in Sri Lanka and as a Ward Manager after completing Diploma in Management and Supervision Program of the Ministry of Health in Sri Lanka.
My research interests are cancer pain management, palliative care, and nursing education.
