Mr. CPS Pathirana entered the University of Ruhuna in 1995 to read for the B.Sc General degree in physical science comprising three major subjects, Mathematics, Further Mathematics and Physics. Considering the good performance that he showed in his first two years, he was selected to follow the B.Sc special degree course in Mathematics. In the B.Sc Special Degree one has to specialize further two years in the specializing subject, thus making it a four years degree programmed. He completed his B.Sc Special degree course with a SECOND CLASS UPPER DIVISION (HONOURS) in 2000. After graduation he joined the Department of Mathematics, University of Ruhuna as a Temporary Tutor in 2000 and he was appointed as a Temporary Assistant Lecturer in 17th July 2001 -13rd January 2008. At present he is working at the Department of Mathematics & Philosophy of Engineering, Faculty of Engineering Technology, The Open University of Sri Lanka, Nawala, Nugegoda, Sri Lanka, as a Lecturer (Probationary) since 05th May 2008 to 31st  August 2013. At present he working as a Senior Lecturer from 01.september 2013 to upto date.

In 2006, he obtained Master of Science in Industrial Mathematics from the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, Sri Lanka. It was of two year duration with one and half year research component. In the research project he applied statistical quality control techniques to a real Industrial problem in the cosmetic soap manufacturing process at the Harishchandra Industry, Matara.

In 2013 I obtained a Degree of Master Philosophy in Computational and Mathematical Biology from Faculty of Graduate Studies, University of Ruhuna, and Sri Lanka. My research topic is “Mathematical and Computational Approaches to Model T – cell activation via Random Energy Model”.
