The Centre for Environmental Studies and Sustainable Development (CESSD) of the Open University of Sri Lanka (OUSL) successfully organized the Sahana Malla Programme on 10th April 2026 as a welfare initiative dedicated to supporting the university’s cleaning service staff.
This programme was implemented with the objective of enhancing the well-being of the cleaning staff by providing them with essential grocery items for their daily needs.Through this initiative, carefully prepared grocery packs consisting of staple food items such as rice, sugar, lentils, and other necessities were distributed among the cleaning service personnel across the university.
The successful execution of the programme was made possible through the collective support and contributions of the OUSL community, including academic staff,administrative staff etc. Their commitment and generosity played a vital role in ensuring that the initiative reached all intended beneficiaries.CESSD expresses its sincere gratitude to all contributors for their valuable support. The programme not only provided material assistance but also served as a gesture of appreciation for the dedication and hard work of the cleaning service staff, whose efforts are essential in maintaining a clean, and green university environment.
