Drip irrigation and Sprinkler systems The Open University of Sri Lanka (OUSL) has implemented drip irrigation and sprinkler systems to enhance the efficiency of campus water use and maintain healthy vegetation. Drip irrigation systems, installed in locations such as the Health Sciences Faculty and the Centre for Environmental Studies and Sustainable Development (CESSD), deliver water directly to plant roots through a network of pipes and emitters, minimizing wastage and ensuring optimal hydration. Sprinkler systems are deployed in lawns and larger garden areas to distribute water evenly, simulating natural rainfall. Both systems support the university’s water conservation initiatives and promote sustainable campus landscaping.
