The Centre for Environmental Studies and Sustainable Development (CESSD) of the Open University of Sri Lanka (OUSL), together with Institute of Environmental Professionals Sri Lanka (IEPSL), hosted a two-day workshop titled “Uplifting Environmental Sustainability Performances to Increase University Ranking” on February 20–21, 2025, at the Open University of Sri Lanka in Nawala. The event brought together participants from universities across Sri Lanka to discuss how sustainability practices can improve university performance and global rankings. Led by Dr. Chalaka Fernando from the National University of Australia, the workshop included expert presentations, group discussions, and case studies. A key highlight was the proposal to establish a Community of Practice (CoP) a dynamic platform designed to foster continuous collaboration and drive sustainable development across higher education institutions.
