Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering receives Full IESL recognition for the BSc (Hons) in Engineering

The Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering, Faculty of Engineering Technology, announces that the Bachelor of Science Honours in Engineering – Electrical Engineering programme has been granted Full recognition by the Institution of Engineers, Sri Lanka (IESL). This outcome affirms that the programme satisfies IESL’s recognition criteria for engineering education in Sri Lanka and that its graduates meet the academic requirement for progression toward Associate Membership and Chartered Engineer status within IESL. In the IESL quality-assurance pathway, recognition is the formal precursor to accreditation; IESL, as a Washington Accord signatory, uses its accreditation system to establish international substantial equivalence for accredited four-year engineering degrees. The Faculty acknowledges the sustained contributions of staff, students, alumni, and industry partners whose work on outcomes-based curricula, laboratories, learner support, and continuous improvement enabled this milestone.
