The Open University of Sri Lanka began its Academic Activities in Batticaloa from 1988 and today it has evolved into an Institution, situated at No. 23, New Road, Batticaloa, capable of satisfying the educational requirements of the district.
The Batticaloa Regional Centre has served the students of Eastern Province for the last 30 years. The Open University Batticaloa Regional Centre has absolutely involved in producing a responsible set of citizens, who not only raise their own educational standards but also participate in the Regional Development Process.
The OURC Batticaloa has excellent infrastructure facilities. Well-furnished classrooms with sufficient lighting and ventilation in a friendly environment, helps the students to involve actively in learning process. The facilities available include well-maintained Library, Computer Lab, Engineering Lab, Auditorium, Guest house etc. with Generator for power backup and 24 hours security services.
