1. General Information
ZooNet of OUSL is an approved society of staff and students of the Open University of Sri Lanka. It was founded in 2005 and administered by the Department of Zoology. We encourage co-curricular activities through regular guest lectures, educational trips, mini-projects, workshops, etc. The ZooNet society also gives awards annually, in recognition of academic excellence and other achievements of students.
Objectives
- To organize activities to create an interest in Biological Sciences among students of the University and the community at large.
- To conduct projects to assimilate and disseminate knowledge and experiences in the field of Biological Sciences.
- To recognize and appreciate the individual performances in the field of Biological Sciences

Membership Categories
There are three categories of memberships
A. Membership
a. Staff member of the OUSL
b. Professional of good standing, acceptable to the Executive Committee on such terms and conditions as may be specified.
i. Annual membership for staff members
B. Students Membership
Registered students of the OUSL are eligible to apply for student membership of the society
C. Junior Membership
School-going children or relatives of those who have Membership or Student membership of the ZooNet of OUSL are eligible to apply for junior members of the society.

Annual Membership – Rs. 250.00
Life Membership – Rs. 1500.00
Student Membership – Rs. 100.00

ZooNet Guest Talk 2022
Living in the city does not mean that you are away from nature. Did you know that many species of wildlife can survive and even thrive in an urban environment? Not only does urban wildlife provide enjoyment for people but also maintains biodiversity and a healthy ecosystem. Hence, it is important to conserve and manage wildlife in urban habitats. This year ZooNet of OUSL will be organizing its activities under the theme “Conservation and Management of Urban Wildlife”. We invite you all to join us as we embark on the journey of understanding the importance of restoring our urban wildlife and the role we can play in conserving these habitats for the future generations to come.
