The basic qualifications for an external Supervisor will typically include:
1. PhD/M Phil/ Master’s degree/Postgraduate Diploma or equivalent qualifications, and
2. At least 5 years of experience in University Service/Principal Service/SLEAS Service or in an equivalent service category.
3. The applicant’s age should not exceed 65 years.
The basic qualifications for an external Invigilator of examinations will typically include:
1. Master’s degree/Postgraduate Diploma/Degree/ or equivalent qualifications, and
2. At least 5 years of experience in University Service/Teaching Service/ or in an equivalent service category.

Please note the following important points regarding the appointment of external supervisors/invigilators for the University’s examinations:
This position is not permanent, and obtaining the service is based on the requirements of the University. Since there is no employee-employer relationship between the selected candidate and the University, no compensation or payment is eligible to be received other than the fee for the supervision/invigilation.
– Candidate may only select one regional/study centre of the university to serve as a supervisor/invigilator.
– Candidate must be a resident of the region where the selected Regional/Study centre of the University is located
– Candidate must possess good speaking and writing skills in English. Proficiency in Sinhala and Tamil is a plus.
– Supervision/Invigilation duties for the selected candidates will be assigned in rotation from a designated pool. If a selected candidate is unable to attend the assigned duties during a given session, he/she will need to wait until the next examination cycle to have another opportunity.
– Candidates must be in good physical condition to serve as a supervisor/invigilator.
– Failure to attend examination duties without prior notice will result in dismissal from the pool of supervisors/invigilators of the University.
– All selected candidates will be required to be an expert in the rules and regulations related to examinations of the University, which will be provided to them after selection
-No one can serve as both an invigilator and a supervisor at the University.
– If a candidate is a government employee, he/she must provide written approval from the Head of the Department to serve as a supervisor.
– Providing false information will result in immediate dismissal from the service and legal action will be taken according to the prevailing laws of the country.
– Submitting this application does not guarantee selection, and all applications will be reviewed to select only suitable candidates.
– All selected candidates must sign a written agreement with the University and declare any relationships they have with existing students of the University during their service period.
– The Open University of Sri Lanka has the authority to determine the selection of supervisors/invigilators through the application received and canvassing in any form will lead to automatic disqualification
