Dr Kithsiri Hector Jayawardana holds a B.Sc. (special) degree from the University of Kelaniya. He has studied fish parasites and fish transport methods for his special degree.
He joined with Filariasis research project sponsored by the World Health Organization at the Department of Parasitology, Faculty of Medicine, Colombo and earned a Degree of Master of Philosophy. He has completed postgraduate training at the Academic Medical Center of the University of Amsterdam. Dr. Kithsiri served in the Department of Microbiology, University of Colombo and obtained his PhD based on studies in immuno- virology. Currently involved in a collaborated research project with the government of Pakistan, He has published several local and international research papers in Hybridoma technology, Parasitology. Virology and Cytochemistry.

Ongoing Research:1 Awareness and prevalence of intestinal parasitic diseases among people in Ja Ela Pradeshiya Sabha Area.
2 Investigation on the Expression of Proteins and/or Cytokines during Cell Migration Assay conducted with Wound Healing Active Medicinal Plant Extracts and Chemical Constituents using Madin Darby Canine kidney (MDCK) cells
3 Preparation pf cost effective synthetic skin grafts for the treatments of burns and chronic ulcer wounds: bioactive directed investigation of angiogenic and cell migration potentials of plant extracts.
