41 Open University Day Celebrated at OUSL

41 Open University Day was celebrated at OUSL on 22 July 2021 with strict adherence to health guidelines. The primary thematic of the event was the promotion and facilitation of a Green University. The Ceremony began with the hoisting of the national flag and paying respect to the national anthem. Thereafter symbolic silence was observed to commemorate the national heroes, founders and later employees of OUSL. This was followed by the new Vice Chancellor OUSL, Prof. P. M. C. Thilakaratne addressing the audience comprising of OUSL staff. While stressing the need to encourage education that crosses the boundaries of conventional learning and encourage social sensitivity he also reiterated the need to create an environmental-friendly university. OUSL’s Registrar Mrs. Vindya Jayasena in her speech expressed her deep appreciation for the state for the timely transfer of plots of land for the developing of the OUSL Regional Centers. The ceremony concluded with the planting of tree saplings in the OUSL Colombo campus.
