Bachelor of Information Technology and Bachelor of Honours in Information Technology are the new undergraduate degree programmes offered by the Faculty of Natural Sciences. The first batch of students enrolled in the degree programme in 2023. The BSc IT degree programmes was inaugurated ceremonially on 15th December 2023 at the BMICH with the participation of the IT and ICT-related company representatives, OUSL academic and non-academic staff and the BSc IT students. The chief guest of the event was UGC Vice Chairman Prof. Chandana Udawatta. The Keynote speech was delivered by Charman / SLASSCOM Mr. Jehan Perpanayagam. Dr. Romesh Ranawana from Dialog Axiata PLC and Mr. Sampath Thirimavithana from Virtusa Lanka delivered guest speeches at the event. The OUSL VC Prof. P.M.C. Thilakarathne and Dean / NSc Prof. Rohan Fernando were honorary guests at the ceremony.
