Dr. Sandun N. Bandara

BSc (Hon’s) (Kelaniya), MSc (CCU, Taiwan), PhD (Kelaniya)

Senior Lecturer grade II

Department of Zoology

As a tropical ecologist, conservationist and Senior Lecturer at the Open University of Sri Lanka, Dr Sandun Bandara is keen on aquatic ecology, fisheries biology, life history strategies of fishes, herpetology and conservation biology. He has led and engaged in several multidisciplinary research projects in Sri Lanka such as population dynamics of exotic cichlids, invasive aquatic species, feeding ecology of mangrove crabs and ontogeny of Asia seabass. Sandun obtained his first degree, BSc in Environmental Conservation and Management, from the University of Kelaniya Sri Lanka and moved to the Chinese Culture University, Taiwan for his Master’s. Upon completing his postgraduate degree, he obtained his PhD in fisheries ecology and population dynamics from the University of Kelaniya.
