Dr. Dahanayaka holds a B.Sc and an M.Phil from the University of Kelaniya in Sri Lanka, along with a Ph.D. and post-doctoral degrees from Japan’s Ibaraki University. With a career spanning over 12 years as a Scientist specializing in Remote Sensing for Coastal and Inland Water Environment monitoring at the National Aquatic Resources Research and Development Agency (NARA) in Sri Lanka, he has amassed a wealth of experience. Currently, Dr. Dahanayaka serves as a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Zoology at The Open University of Sri Lanka.

His extensive contributions to the field of Environmental Sciences are evident through his impressive portfolio, which includes over 200 articles and reports. Notably, 40 of these have been published in esteemed peer-reviewed international journals. Dr. Dahanayaka has also shared his expertise through 15 invited presentations delivered in various countries such as the USA, Japan, Vietnam, Indonesia, Pakistan, Cambodia, and Sri Lanka.

Over the past decade, he has fostered fruitful research collaborations with esteemed scientists from Japan, Sri Lanka, the USA, Vietnam, Cambodia, and Indonesia. Dr. Dahanayaka possesses a wide range of skills, from devising research programs and experimental design to conducting statistical analyses and crafting research publications. His talents extend beyond research into administration, management, and teaching. He has served on advisory committees in the fields of environmental science, fisheries, and aquaculture.

Furthermore, Dr. Dahanayaka excels in securing and overseeing collaborative projects with both local and international partners. He has also been instrumental in organizing and leading workshops, seminars, and lectures, demonstrating his commitment to knowledge dissemination and advancement in his field.
