The Department of Zoology is one of the oldest and well-established Departments of the OUSL, with more than 35 years of teaching and research experience. In keeping with the OUSL’s vision, we currently offer a range of academic programmes and courses through the open and distance learning methodology, including Degrees at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, Advanced Certificates, Diplomas, Certificates, stand-alone courses, and short courses in applied fields.
Our courses are diverse and provide an exciting opportunity to study about animals and their habitats, with laboratory and field activities incorporated to reinforce the theoretical concepts. The Department has qualified staff in different fields for the design and delivery of courses. The undergraduate and research laboratories and the museum support research activities and the practical components of the curricular offered.
Our staff-student Society – the ZooNet Society – organizes various academic and extracurricular activities throughout the year to support the all-round development of students and it is also a platform for students to showcase their academic achievements, talents, and skills.
