Mission

“Achieving excellence in providing life–long learning opportunities in engineering and technology for all to meet industrial and social needs through open and distance learning, and support research and scholarship by efficient and sustainable use of resources.”

Faculty of Engineering Technology offers a variety of study programmes leading to the awards of Certificates, Advanced Certificates, Higher Diplomas, Honors Bachelor Degrees, and Postgraduate Diplomas and Degrees encompassing a many engineering and industrial specializations as needed by the industry in line with the Sri Lanka Qualifications Frame Work. Major honors degrees awarded by the Faculty are the Bachelor of Technology (Engineering), Bachelor of Industrial Studies, and Bachelor of Software Engineering.

In addition to the taught study programmes the Faculty through its well equipped academic departments facilitates research leading to the awards of MPhil and PhD degrees.

Applications for Consideration for the Award of the Higher Diploma in Technology / Higher Diploma in Software Engineering / Higher Diploma in Industrial Studies – Academic year 2019/20

  • Faculty of Engineering Technology entertains applications from the students those who have fulfilled all the necessary requirements for consideration for the award of the Higher Diploma in Technology / Higher Diploma in Software Engineering / Higher Diploma in Industrial Studies to be awarded for the academic year 2019/20.
  • The relevant Google Form will be available to be filled and submitted from 08th April 2021 to 22nd April 2021.
  • Students who submit the Google Forms on or before 22nd April 2021 will only be considered for the award of the respective Higher Diploma in the academic year 2019/20.

Additional Day for Add/Drop and Re-Opening of Google Form – Academic year 2020/21

  • The Registration Committee has decided to conduct an additional Add/Drop day on 8th April of 2021 at the Colombo and Kandy especially for the students who have passed courses after scrutinisation of Final Examination results. The finalised results will be available on 06th April 2021.
  • The relevant Google Form will be re-opened to fill on 6th and 7th of April of 2021.
  • The other students who missed to apply for the Add/Drop may also use this opportunity.

Guidebook for Add-Drop students

Add/Drop Period for Academic year 2020/2021
The students who intend to participate at Add/Drop 2020/21 should follow the following guidelines:

  • Since the Add/Drop is to be conducted as face-to-face sessions, the students need to select a time slot to visit the OUSL.
  • The Green Sheet of the students who have already obtained only the Studentship, and do not wish to add courses will be posted in due course by the respective Regional Center, so these students need not visit the Regional Centers for the Add/Drop.
  • If a student expects to drop courses, he/she has to return all course material received with respect to these courses.
  • In order to obtain exemptions a student needs to provide the relevant original certificates.
  • If a student is planning to add a large number of courses, he/she will be asked to make an additional payment at the time of the Add/Drop.
  • It is essential that you come for Add/Drop to a Regional Centre during the time slot that you have selected. You will not be allowed to enter the University premises during any other time slots.
  • Do not forget to bring your Student Record Book with you when you visit the OUSL.

The printed course material will be issued only to those who have sent the proof of their payments to a regional center and got the re-registration confirmed. Students who newly registered last year but not received books should also fill this Google Form. The form should be submitted on or before 25th March 2021. The link to the Google Form
