Graduated in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Sri Lanka in 1973 and joined the University of Moratuwa as an Assistant Lecturer in Metallurgical Engineering. After obtaining the Masters and Doctoral degrees from the University of British Columbia, Canada he joined the Open University of Sri Lanka in 1987. He has served the Open University for many years in the past as Director, Regional Educational Services, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering Technology, Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Acting Vice-Chancellor. At present he serves the Faculty of Engineering Technology as one of the Senior Lecturers in Mechanical Engineering.
