Dr. Dahanayaka holds B.Sc and M.Phil degrees from the University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka and PhD and Post-doctoral degrees from the Ibaraki University, Japan. He worked as a Scientist of Remote Sensing on Coastal and Inland Water Environment monitoring at National Aquatic Resources Research and Development Agency (NARA), Sri Lanka for over 12 years and currently holds the position of Senior Lecturer at Department of Zoology, The Open University of Sri Lanka. Dr. Dahanayaka has published over 100 articles/reports on Environmental Sciences, which include 22 in peer-reviewed international journals. He has delivered 15 invited presentations (in USA, Japan, Vietnam, Indonesia, Pakistan, Cambodia and Sri Lanka). Over the last decade has established highly productive research collaborations with reputed scientists from Japan, Sri Lanka, USA, Vietnam, Cambodia and Indonesia. He is fully conversant in planning and implementing of research programs, designing experiments, statistical analysis and writing research information for publication. Possess administrative skills, management skills, teaching skills and experience in advisory capacity while serving in several advisory committees of environmental science, fisheries and aquaculture sectors. Experienced in securing and handling collaborative projects with local and international counterparts and conducting workshops, seminars, and lectures.
